Fandom Features #3: Homestuck

Fandom Features is a Thursday feature/weekly meme created by Bianca at The Ultimate Fangirl to creatively showcase the many fandoms in this world. Feel free to share details about the fandoms you are currently in, as the goal of this feature is to showcase the fandoms we belong in and maybe encourage people to join in your respective fandoms!

How do I start introducing this one? Like, in all of the fandoms that I am in, this one is the second worst. Worst in the sense that I was complete trash about it. And by trash, I mean that it has taken over my life and I am not even mad that it did. You can literally see how it still affects my life everyday. I mean, just look at my website’s name. That is influenced by this fandom. Should I really share it with you? Yes, yes I should because I want people to know how good this webcomic is.

Hi everyone! Today, I will tell you about Homestuck. (And how this thing still breathes on my neck. Kidding.) By the way, this is spoiler-free. I have this agenda to get you guys to go into it blindly.

I would have to say that it was because of peer pressure. As much as I love my friends, they are the ones who made me read Homestuck. These guys (or gals, rather) were my first internet friends. Actually, one of them was my classmate in high school but let’s not talk about my life right now lol.

The image above is the first thing that everyone will see when you look up the page. Yes, that is a gif. For starters, everything was basic. At first you’ll think that it’s just a simple webcomic that will end soon. Apparently, it’s not. And I learned that the hard way. So me being myself, I just clicked and read. “Oh cool, a boy with a game.” ,  I said. But little did I know that I was in for something a little more deeper.

It literally took me an agonizing week to know WHAT. THE. HELL. IS. GOING. ON. And then I started liking it, and it consumed my life. I spent hours and hours reading about Homestuck because I wanted more! It can be compared to a life-sucking leech, but in a good way. I was lucky enough that it happened in a summer, otherwise I could have had neglected all of my schoolwork.

giphy (12).gif
Thanks Hussie. You evil overlord.

I am not this fangirl today without Homestuck. This fandom got me into drawing artworks, become a cosplay enthusiast (it is still my dream to cosplay Farmstink Buttlass), and it got me and my internet friends to edit Multi Editor Projects. Those MEPs enhanced my video editing skills, and for that I am truly grateful.

Homestuck started on April 14, 2011. It centers around a boy named John Egbert, and is created by the mad genius Andrew Hussie. (When I say mad genius, I meant crazy as fudge.) John just turned 11. He has a new game called Sburb. No, this is unlike anything you have ever read. It has everything. The webcomic features a diverse cast of characters that will blow your socks off. It has a storyline that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The story shifts from one mood after the other. Nothing else will keep up with it.

If you will ask me to read a webcomic, I would probably say no at first because of Homestuck. This ridiculous piece of internet marvel cannot be dethroned on the ethereal plane that is my brain. That is how good Homestuck is. Sure, it feels like a never-ending abyss but it did reach a conclusion already.

It is more than a boy and his video game. It is more than his friends being introduced. That’s basically just the start.  You will just have to keep reading and reading and reading…

It brings my heart pure joy to have someone join the Homestuck fandom, and I swear it’s one of the best out there. No, if you have been to an anime expo, this is not all about the trolls!

You guys are lucky enough to read the whole thing. When I became a fan, I had to wait after long agonizing hiatuses, and those took MONTHS. The waiting got so bad, I forgot where I left off and now I’m starting all over again.

But this webcomic has been made immortal through the internet, and hopefully future generations could love it in all of it’s amazing format. So if you ever decide to read this webcomic, don’t be alarmed. Just be cool and think, “Well Bianca said it was good so… Maybe this is just weird fanfiction so…”

YOOOOOOOOO. Here’s the link:

P.S. I already sold my soul to Hussie. I might get it back now.

Fandom Features #2: Friends (1994-2004)

Fandom Features is a Thursday feature/weekly meme created by Bianca at The Ultimate Fangirl to creatively showcase the many fandoms in this world. Feel free to share details about the fandoms you are currently in, as the goal of this feature is to showcase the fandoms we belong in and maybe encourage people to join in your respective fandoms!

This week, I will be talking about the show that people have been talking about. In general, Friends happened way back in the 90’s. So when I turned 17 and legit was old enough to understand what they were all laughing about, I gave the show a try.

FRIENDS — Season 2 — Pictured: (l-r) Matthew Perry as Chandler Bing, Jennifer Aniston as Rachel Green, David Schwimmer as Ross Geller, Courteney Cox as Monica Geller, Matt LeBlanc as Joey Tribbiani, Lisa Kudrow as Phoebe Buffay (Photo by NBC/NBCU Photo Bank via Getty Images)

I have been wanting to feature Friends on my blog for so long, but I do not know what platform I could do it in. There’s the Fangirl Corner, but I guess that would instead focus on something else. So when this feature came up in my head, I thought “Hey! Why not talk about Friends?”.

It was all a blur, really. There was this buzz around the Internet that this show called Friends was finally on Netflix. Luckily, I knew some of the actors from the movies. There’s Jennifer Aniston who is literally everywhere. The guidance counselor from Easy A, and then there’s the old dude who was Zac Efron when he was younger. Then there’s Matt LeBlanc, who was Lucy Liu’s boyfriend in the Charlie’s Angels movies. And Courtney Cox from Cougar Town. (There was nothing good on TV when I watched an episode of Cougar Town, okay?) The other white dude sounds like a cartoon character.

I had nothing to do that summer. I did not know that my 2nd year would be in freakish hell. I think that was also the time that I started the blog.

So I dived in. Let me just say that I almost did not watch it because of the low quality, but then again it was 1994. Then jokes got great, and everything was so funny. It was not about the laugh track because it was so hilarious! I finished watching all of the 10 seasons in a month. That is how good this show is. If I had to pick the best season, I would have to say Season 3 and 7. I can’t choose.

giphy (9)
I mean just look at Phoebe. That is my face (and everyone else’s) when they hear the opening theme of the Friends.

Everyone says I should watch Seinfeld first because it is “the original”, but I’m not doing that right now. Friends is this TV show where you can just sit back and relax. It’s like laughter treatment. Just in case you still don’t know what it is all about (and I will assume that you are living under a rock from the 80’s) : Friends is a comedy sitcom about six friends living in New York City, trying to balance their lives and their love life. The friends are Monica Geller, Phoebe Buffay, Rachel Green, Chandler Bing, Joey Tribbiani, and Ross Geller. The show ran for 10 seasons, creating one huge fanbase. It became a huge phenomenon, and I kid you not, the cast of Friends were equally paid $1,000,000 per episode by Season 10.

One of the many reasons why people loved Friends is because it had this authenticity that they are real people, even though they each have pros and cons. It was pure and genuine comedy, and you can see that everyone was having fun. Everyone can relate to each of the characters. Plus it simply has the heart to deliver amazing stories every episode. It is funny without even trying. I mean have you ever seen a group of actors who just click like magnets? They really are Friends for a reason.

See even a late 90’s kid like me enjoyed each and every episode of Friends because it is pure comedy gold. You do not know what you are missing in your life. You need it. It needs you. It’s begging you to watch it because this series is really amazing. Watch it, and you will see what I mean. I reckon that if you’re not laughing by the episode of the blackout, then just give it a go because it is the healthiest dose of laughter medicine that you can get.

So if you decide to jump on the Friends wagon and you cannot manage not to fangirl/fanboy about it with anyone, I’ll be there for you. 😉

Fangirl Corner: Epic Rap Battles of History

Fangirl Corner

Warning: Video-heavy blog post 🙂

Truth be told, I am a history nerd. I love everything about history. From the ancient civilizations to the 21st century, history is my forte. It is the only subject that I can study until the end of time. One day, when I was watching some videos on the React Channel, a video popped up in the suggestions labeled “Rasputin vs Joseph Stalin”. I was just blown away by the rapping and the ridiculous accuracy of the meanings behind the raps. I was so proud of myself because I know the references. I encountered this rap battle on a particular Youtube channel called Epic Rap Battles of History. (ERB for short) I immediately got interested. It slowly took over my life and I memorized the battles by heart. The beats in their rap battles are totally worth the replay button and you just can’t get those raps out of your head.

The spear head of the channel is Nice Peter and Epic Lloyd, two insanely badass rappers and men of history. The rap battles actually started out on Nice Peter’s channel, but they continued doing the battles on their official channel. They quickly gained a huge following, reaching 6 million subscribers by the start of their 3rd season. The show is now on its 5th season, and they just released the first rap battle. I have huge expectations this season, because this premier was AWESOME. And who’s in the battle? J.R.R Tolkien and George R.R. Martin!

Here are the reasons why you should subscribe to their channel:

First of all, they live up to their name. Like moi, their battles are EPIC. I mean who would’ve thought that Darth Vader and Adolf Hitler would have the greatest rap battle ever?

Second, their process is magic. The lyrically inducing raps, the eerie up-to-point make-up and costumes, the ridiculous lot of dedication through research and the amazing editing. That is why no matter how many Behind The Scenes videos they upload, I will watch every single one of it.

Third, the creators are very nice. They take battle suggestions from us, the fans. Which makes the creative process challenging and brilliant at the same time.

Of course, I will not stop there. Since Tuesday is famous for its top ten’s (pun intended), I am not leaving you guys empty handed. I will gladly list down my top ten favorite rap battles in descending order. Despite being listed, all of these battles are equally awesome. Believe me, I had a hard time.

10. Albert Einstein vs. Stephen Hawking

Who knew Einstein and Hawking had some known differences? This rap is too catchy to pass up, plus the lines are oh so incredible. Watch out for Stephen Hawking.

9. Romeo and Juliet vs. Bonnie and Clyde

I have been gushing about this battle for ages. Despite making wrong decisions, I love Romeo and Juliet to bits. I have long history with the play. But Bonnie and Clyde are also wonderful two peas in a pod. Plus, who would not love this battle? Hannah Hart and Grace Helbig are in this!

8. Darth Vader vs Adolf Hitler

Granted, the rap battle that they started with is John Lennon vs. Bill O’ Reilly. But, this was the rap battle that had people talking. It was just their second battle, but you could their creativity in this one. Sick rhymes, guys.

7. Stephen King vs Edgar Allan Poe

Two literary agents of horror battle it out on this one. If this does validate what is to come, Stephen King himself actually tweeted about this rap battle!

6. Steve Jobs vs Bill Gates

Sense knows nothing. This is the ultimate nerd battle. Ever imagined what would happen if Steve Jobs and Bill Gates finally battle it out? I can say that this will already satisfy that longing. Forget Ashton Kutcher’s Jobs. You can never go wrong with this one.

5. Cleopatra vs. Marilyn Monroe

Still the best woman battle on the show (sorry Oprah!), and it slays! Cat claws here and there, plus these girls are downright hardcore. Personally, I hope they incorporate more women in the battle. There are a lot more women who can get facts straight in a rap battle.

4. Eastern Philosophers vs. Western Philosophers

I almost forgot to mention that Epic Rap Battles of History drops bombs like these every now and then. These people obviously have a lot of differences, clearly because they all gave significant insights in the world of philosophy. It’s like a boss battle, but with three great minds in each team.

3. Rasputin vs. Stalin

Probably the most epic finale still, they made sure they ended with a bang. And all are Russian figures. As I mentioned earlier, this is the rap battle that got me to hit that lovely subscribe button.

2. Dr. Seuss vs William Shakespeare

I am a George Watsky fangirl. I now admit that. 🙂 No really, thanks to ERB. This is an early battle, but you can see how it is just as cool and well-thought out. It is a fact that Dr. Seuss suffered from oral cancer, so you have to see how he plays it out in this battle.

1. Mozart vs. Skrillex

This one eventually won it out, because you cannot be wrong with fusing classic music with dubstep. How is that even possible? Magic, with a hint two accurately portrayed figures.

I feel bad for taking these guys out of my top ten, so I decided to include it here.

Gandhi vs. Martin Luther King Jr.

Steven Spielberg vs. Alfred Hitchcock

George Washington vs. William Wallace

Well, that turned out well. I hope I was able to convince you guys to appreciate your history more. To be honest, I have this weird feeling that they will probably have Alexander Hamilton in a future battle. Let’s keep our fingers (and toes) crossed for that.

What’s your favorite epic rap battle? Leave down on the comments below!

P.S. Yes, I am aware that I just posted a hiatus post. But this is a special case. 😛

Book Review: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling

Before Reading:

This is actually a reread for me. The first time I read Harry Potter, I was just a kid. My mother actually read the book so I can sleep, but I vividly remember falling asleep before she even finished. So I tried reading it. Imagine a 4 year old trying to read Harry Potter. I know, crazy. Maybe that’s why my tutors never lasted. Anyways, I am excited to read Harry Potter again, because I can now read it at as semi-adult. (18 is just legal. It still has -teen so I am still a teen.)

Harry_Potter_and_the_Sorcerer's_StoneTitle & Author: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling

Genre:  Middle Grade, Fantasy

Date Published: June 26th 1997

Series: Harry Potter #1

Publisher: Scholastic

Source: Really old copy from my childhood

Harry Potter thinks he is an ordinary boy. He lives with his Uncle Vernon, Aunt Petunia and cousin Dudley, who are mean to him and make him sleep in a cupboard under the stairs. (Dudley, however, has two bedrooms, one to sleep in and one for all his toys and games.) Then Harry starts receiving mysterious letters and his life is changed forever. He is whisked away by a beetle-eyed giant of a man and enrolled at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The reason: Harry Potter is a wizard! The first book in the “Harry Potter” series makes the perfect introduction to the world of Hogwarts.

What are you waiting for? Get a copy!

If your library does not have this book, hands down.

After Reading:

I literally flew through the pages! How amazing is that? It was a good call that this is the first book that the book club has chosen to read. Not only did it bring back a lot of memories, but the magic stayed the same. I felt like I was 4 again, asking my mother if there were owls here in the Philippines. It brought nostalgia. But it brings new perspectives.

When you cannot word, that means that the book did a successful job in rendering you speechless. I feel like I want to marathon the whole series again. Harry Potter, in all the sense, is a truly marvelous book. Harry Potter raised the bar for every other fantasy book out there.

The world building was just as incredible as I remembered. It was like taking your first baby steps. The idea of Hogwarts was not crammed into a huge puddle of mess, but rather was introduced like you were a child going to school for the first time. Hats off to that required items list, because one cannot be more excited to know what Hogwarts is really like. Getting your first wand, getting a pet, and imagining what Gringotts and Flourish and Botts looked like was really satisfying to read. And when you finally enter Hogwarts, you get this sense of feeling that each of those houses are equally intriguing, but of course you cannot help but root for Gryffindor in the first place. I might spoil anyone who has yet to read the Harry Potter series so I am stopping right there. Just so you know that the point I am saying is that the Harry Potter world defines the word “magical”.

In terms of characters, J.K. Rowling left some room for improvements on the characters. They are not entirely perfect, nor are they built like gods. They each have their separate flaws and strengths, which one can admire from afar. If you ask me, Hermione is still my favorite character and Harry Potter will still be my crush. Ron Weasley will forever be the loyal best friend and Draco Malfoy will forever be the kid that I will hate if I will ever reread the series again.

Plot-wise, I loved the way how there is so much going on yet it seems that they’re all interconnected. I was still shocked on some of the parts, thinking that some of it will look weird on the movie. But then again, the ones who made the movies are geniuses in their own right. It was just perfect, nothing feels rushed and nothing feels slow. See what I’m doing here? I told you I cannot word anymore.

Now, will I read this again? Hell yes.

Is this still the best book ever? Hell yes.

Potterhead till the end? I swear on my grave.

JK Rowling

I swear, if you don’t know who this goddess of writing is, I don’t even think you’ve been living under a rock. Are you galaxies away, my friend?

Joanne Rowling was born in July 1965 at Yate General Hospital in England and grew up in Chepstow, Gwent where she went to Wyedean Comprehensive.

Jo left Chepstow for Exeter University, where she earned a French and Classics degree, her course including one year in Paris. As a postgraduate she moved to London and worked as a researcher at Amnesty International among other jobs. She started writing the Harry Potter series during a delayed Manchester to London King’s Cross train journey, and during the next five years, outlined the plots for each book and began writing the first novel.

Jo then moved to northern Portugal, where she taught English as a foreign language. She married in October 1992 and gave birth to a daughter in 1993. When the marriage ended, she and Jessica returned to the UK to live in Edinburgh, where Harry Potter & the Philosopher’s Stone was eventually completed. The book was first published by Bloomsbury Children’s Books in June 1997, under the name J.K. Rowling. The “K”, for Kathleen, her paternal grandmother’s name was added at her publisher’s request who thought that a woman’s name would not appeal to the target audience of young boys.

I don’t know about you, but one can never get enough of Harry Potter. Oh, and if you’re a member of the Fanboy Book Club and you have written a review, feel free to link it up here!

Book Review: Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

Before Reading:

Sometimes, when you’re new to the book blogging business, you go with the flow. And in that flow, comes the hype. I would have had never heard of Illuminae if I did not have the guts to create this blog in the process. But seeing how people seem to melt for it is something else. And to the flow of the river did I drift in.

Okay, what is all the hype about? I felt intimidated by this book that I don’t even know if I will jump on the train or not. It is just so huge. Yet, being a book blogger and a book enthusiast, one cannot help it when one discovers something equivalently epic as it’s shell. Is it the hype? Is it about the way the book is presented? Or does it have powers unknown to man but it attracts one? I dare not say because the attraction was real. If you see Illuminae on your local bookstore, you grab it. Especially if it is one of the two copies out. You grab it, because it’s calling out your name. The premise alone is as intriguing as can be.

Alright, I know I will gain extra bragging rights if I finish this humongous book.

Series: The Illuminae Files #1

This morning, Kady thought breaking up with Ezra was the hardest thing she’d have to do.

This afternoon, her planet was invaded.

The year is 2575, and two rival megacorporations are at war over a planet that’s little more than an ice-covered speck at the edge of the universe. Too bad nobody thought to warn the people living on it. With enemy fire raining down on them, Kady and Ezra—who are barely even talking to each other—are forced to fight their way onto an evacuating fleet, with an enemy warship in hot pursuit.

But their problems are just getting started. A deadly plague has broken out and is mutating, with terrifying results; the fleet’s AI, which should be protecting them, may actually be their enemy; and nobody in charge will say what’s really going on. As Kady hacks into a tangled web of data to find the truth, it’s clear only one person can help her bring it all to light: the ex-boyfriend she swore she’d never speak to again.

Told through a fascinating dossier of hacked documents—including emails, schematics, military files, IMs, medical reports, interviews, and more—Illuminae is the first book in a heart-stopping, high-octane trilogy about lives interrupted, the price of truth, and the courage of everyday heroes.

After Reading:

I cannot even. Is that the proper way to say it? My mind is out of words to describe this huge phenomenon. I was speechless and dumbstruck. It was mindblowing. To be honest, that was my first time reading a Sci-Fi novel. And I can definitely say that the experience was ridiculous. Why have I never picked up a sci-fi book before? Maybe it’s because of the Star Wars fever. Maybe it’s the hype. Maybe… just maybe… it makes you wonder how Illuminae got built in the first place. I would really need to read more sci-fi.

Illuminae offers a unique perspective when it comes to how you want to present a book to your audience. Believe me, when you present it to a non-reader, they will look at it in awe. It is unique in every way possible, but it still gives you that thrill in reading. It was fast-paced, incredibly constructed, and surreal.

When it comes to the characters, Kady Grant and Ezra Mason are the real star-crossed lovers of the 25th century. Faith made them break up on the eventful day a company attacked their planet, changing the course of their lives forever. Just by that statement, you could immediately assume that they are not your ordinary teenage lovers. Although the book did focus more on Kady, Ezra still stood out as a character of his own right. (I think the part where he said he was at least 6 feet got my attention.) You could easily root for the two of them, despite their clearly different personalities. You have to, because you want to.

Meanwhile, the supporting characters give much more insight. They will smash your heart into smitherins because even if they only appear in a slight number of pages. It will make you question a lot of the things that are happening in the book, because of what has happened to them. I would not be stating any of their names because I would want you people to discover them yourselves. They were all so unique, and it felt like they deserved their own story. On everything that was happening in the book, you will feel attached to some of them. They are all distinguished to avoid confusion from any other supporting character. Watch out for AIDAN, folks. That one felt real. Bravo to that. It was similar to walking in a pit of darkness with a dim light in your hands. You never know what to expect from it. So look out for it.

Overall, Illuminae came into our lives and it delivers. Not everybody could pull off a book that is narrated through different types of files and transcripts. Honestly, if someone said that to me, I will say that they have lost their senses. But from the way Illuminae was made top-to-bottom, it made sure that it will give you the best feeling ever from conquering the humongous book. Illuminae sounded crazy, but it made crazy the new best thing. The hype is real on this one. Prepare the fandom ships, because Illuminae is here to stay.

or authors rather…

Amie is the New York Times bestselling co-author of the award-winning These Broken StarsThis Shattered World, Their Fractured Light and Illuminae. Based in Melbourne, Australia, Amie writes science fiction and fantasy for young (and not so young) adults.

Jay Kristoff has managed to trick the world into thinking he’s an author. His award-winning steampunk series, THE LOTUS WAR and the New York Times bestselling sci-fi novel ILLUMINAE, the first of a trilogy, are out now. A new fantasy series, NEVERNIGHT, hits shelves in 2016.

No regrets. Now I just need to read more science fiction. Now run along and let’s try to keep our heads together before Gemina comes out.

Fangirl Corner: The Awesomes

Fangirl Corner

No, no, no. This TV show is not what you think it is. First of all, this is not your regular cartoon for kids. Second, I’m not even sure if it is for kids. And third, there is nothing more awesome than The Awesomes.

This week on Fangirl Corner, I am featuring The Awesomes.

the-awesomes poster

The Awesomes is a show on Hulu, created by Seth Meyers and Mike Shoemaker. You may know Seth Meyers as that guy who used to be on Weekend Update guy at Saturday Night Live and OR as the host of Late Night. I don’t know where or how I knew about The Awesomes (maybe I was stalking Seth Meyer’s wikipedia page… sshh) but after watching just the first episode, I was hooked.

Here’s the premise: All his life, Jeremy “Prock” Awesome just wanted his father’s attention. His father Mr. Awesome was America’s greatest superhero and is the leader of the greatest superhero team, The Awesomes. Unfornately, Prock did not inherit any of his dad’s abilities, making him a lesser hero.

Poor Prock. Even the dog was more interesting than him.

One day, Mr. Awesome held a press conference stating that he is planning to retire. The leadership was passed on to a greater hero named Perfect Man, but he declined. Not wanting to let the world suffer, having the Awesomes disbanded, and let the opportunity to prove himself slip, Prock took responsiblity of taking over the leadership of The Awesomes. Much to his dismay, the team abandoned him, leaving him and his bestfriend Muscleman to carry on the team’s legacy.

Since he and his friend Muscleman were classified as lesser heroes, the government cut them off. Prock bargained that if he fills the team’s roster within 48 hours, they will have to be funded again. Thus, Prock’s team began to form. Here’s the catch though: they are all consisted of rejects.

With the dilemma of having to prove that the new Awesomes were as good as the old one, Prock’s problems does not end there. The Awesome’s enemy Dr. Malocchio has escaped from prison and is planning to take over the world since Mr. Awesome is gone. Also, there’s a girl involved.

That’s just the first episode. Imagine how they made the rest of the season. Each season has 10 episodes each. And they just gave the conclusion for the third season of the show. Things pretty much escalated in Season 2. And Season 3 had the most shocking revelations.

What is it about this show that gives it a unique advantage?

The show’s heroes consist of reject superheroes. It is quite a refreshing take since they don’t have the usual powers that we are used to seeing. The Awesome’s team roster consists of:

Prock (Team Leader) voiced by Seth Meyers

images (12)

Power/s: Strong leadership skills, super intelligence, control of time (for 10 seconds)

Issues: Very fragile

Muscleman voiced by Ike Barinholtz

images (13)

Power/s: Super human strength

Issues: Hearing

Frantic voiced by Taran Killam

images (11)

Power/s: Super Speed (third fastest man)

Issues: Bat sh*t crazy

Impresario voiced by Kenan Thompson

images (10)

Power/s: Conjurer

Issues: Mother issues; Everything he conjures has his mama on it

Tim voiced by Bobby Lee

images (14)

Power/s: Turns into a sumo wrestler at will

Issues: Age

Gadget Gal voiced by Paula Pell

images (15)

Power/s: Gadget making (even junk can be a villain stopper)

Issues: Got hit by a rejuvinating ray but still talks like a grandma

Hotwire voiced by Rashida Jones

images (16)

Power/s: Ability to form electricity

Issues: Applied, probably has a hidden agenda

More people will join the roster. Just don’t go to Wikipedia or else you will be spoiled.

The viewers can also see how The Awesomes stumble and fall to reach the same glory Mr. Awesome has done. Ironically, they always end up saving the world but they don’t get enough recognition since the world still has doubts about them.

But what distinguishes this show the most is it’s sense of humor and themes. Yes, these superheroes cuss and discuss about innuendos sometimes. Which is why I don’t recommend that you watch it with kids. They deliver a good laugh though. Not surprising since most of the ensemble cast is affiliated with Saturday Night Live and other comedic shows.

Nevertheless, the adventures of The Awesomes are the ones that you need to look out for. Thrilling and exciting in every turn with a sense of humor to go, I hope the show gets renewed for more seasons. I need this show. I love it.

How about you guys?  What other shows should we look out for? Any recommendations? Comment below.

I’ll just be here binge-watching The Awesomes in its entirety.

October Wrap-Up: Fangirl Shenanigans

This is not like my usual wrap-up. Well, what is not usual with me? I love inconsistencies 🙂

I don’t know why I’m explaining again but here we go. *flashback*

October was a whole month of hell. Our finals began to swoop in and we only had a month before the storm brewed in. It raged on for weeks, thus my disappearance on my blog. It was hard to be away because I really wanted to type about releases and such but sadly, the howling and cries of undone projects made me uneasy and I had to attend to them. Then one day, the final exam came. Rue were the all-nighters. The storm has passed! But then, the grades viewing was all that was anticipated. AND YES, IT WAS GLORIOUS. Oh sweet sweet grades. All the sacrifices and the hard work paid off.

… but it was already the end of October.

That one month was dreading. One month just for the finals. An equivalent of four hell weeks of pain. It made me wonder if my professors were making a banquet to showcase the blood and sweat we had spewed all over the place. But that’s just gross.

Now as I do not want to disappoint anyone from the bookish community, my wrap-up is as follows:

Books In The Freezer:19547856The Manifesto on How to be Interesting

I really like the story of Simon VS. The Homo Sapiens Agenda but I just kept on putting it down because of the reasons I stated above and because my scumbag brain wants a physical copy. Nonetheless, I’m hooked on Simon and Becky. I feel like I could easily finish TMOHTBI this November since we have a whole week of no classes because of an APEC summit. Plus, I just got a new schedule because of a new semester and it has a darn full of vacant periods.

Books I Read:

Solid one book for the month of October. I will be posting my review for this one hopefully soon. I just cannot handle this book so much that I’m all “aghhhhhh”.

No, I have not reviewed a single book this October. That is how big of an impact our finals had on me.

I did have a big haul though. It was the post before this wrap-up.

That’s about it. I had a really busy month but November will put me back on track. Special mention to Cristina at My Tiny Obsessions for encouraging me to post. ❤

Now here’s a happy Chandler for you:
