As I have previously mentioned, the blog is open for book review requests. May it be a traditionally published book or self-published, it is welcome as long as it fits the content here on TUF. (Honestly being asked in the first place is already amazing!) However, as a blogger who prioritizes content quality, I will have to be rigorous in choosing what books I would want to review and promote here on my blog and on Goodreads. (Hopefully on Amazon in the future, too.)
I heavily prioritize young adult books, as I mainly blog about books suited and catered for young adults. Even so, I will occasionally accept middle grade, new adult, and adult as long as it falls under the fiction genre. I will highly entertain books that fall into these specific genres:
- Realistic fiction (more of coming-of-age)
- LGBTQIA+ (more of queer or questioning)
- Historical fiction
- Science fiction
I seldom review books in this genre but I will also moderately entertain:
- Action / Adventure
I will not accept requests for books that will fall under the following genres:
I would gladly accept reading the book in any form (may it be an ARC or finished copy; digital and/or printed). I do prefer having a physical copy of the book, but it’s also a-okay to be sent an ebook as long as it is a .epub or .mobi file. (Kindle is a dear friend.) Please also consider if you’re fine sending a copy to the Philippines. On that note, physical copies will be heavily prioritized. All opinions stated here are entirely honest and mine alone, and receiving free books will not affect my review in any way possible.*Any book sent to me for review is under the protection from any form of piracy, reproduction and/or plagiarism.
My review style follows a particular pattern (sample format of my book review can be found here), but is thoroughly expanded here:
Before Reading – Where I say what I have in mind before diving into the story. Most often it consists of my expectations or comprehensions from the given plot summary and/or excerpt.
The Book – Where I highlight the book cover, title, genre/s, date published, ISBN, series (if it is), publisher (if there is), and the summary
After Reading – Where I proceed with the rambly thoughts. It often highlights the heavy emotions that I felt after reading the book.
Final Thoughts -Where I leave my final and thorough review for the book. My reviews often consist of 500 words or more, depending on the rating that I have for it. This often has no pattern but I often discuss the author’s writing style, the characters and their development, the setting and the world-building (should it be a fantasy or a historical fiction), and the takeaways that readers can get after finishing the book. I will also often state if I recommend the book or not.
Rating – I have decided to rate my books by how I felt in its majority. To know more about my rating system, click here.
