I Got Tagged: The Reader Confessions Tag

(I should be doing an assignment right now but I am literally so stressed that I feel like my head is going to pop. I need a break. Let’s do this.)

Hey everyone! Aww, I missed doing one of these. I actually miss writing here as well, but your girl is one term away from graduating. With that said, my superiors at my previous internship gave me such a lovely advice that I keep doing what I love and let that be my consolation after a hard day’s work. Nothing came to mind except for leisure that comes from reading and blogging. Now, today’s not the time for such a story. Today, we are doing a tag! I genuinely missed doing these, so let’s just go ahead and do one. For this particular tag, I was tagged by Anna at My Bookish Dream (thank you so much! <3). Today’s tag is The Reader Confessions tag, wherein I got shocked by some of the questions. It’s time to confess (or you know, laugh and sweat nervously.)

1. Have you ever damaged a book?

  • Yes. I’m not really proud of the experience, but to be fair I was in first grade and no one has told me about proper book care and maintenance. It’s a horror story; me sharing it will only traumatize your souls as it involves water.

2. Have you ever damaged a borrowed book?

  • Okay this one is somewhat in a gray area. It was a book I borrowed from the library, but I thought the book was trash. I just loathed it, and it was simply infuriating. To be fair, the only damage it got was the tearing on the plastic cover.

3. How long does it take you to read a book?

  • It depends. I have proven and tested that I can read a book in a span of hours back when I was in 5th grade. But it can also take months, especially when the reading slump that hits me is a particularly awful one. Based on that, maybe the average is it usually takes me a week. (Wow, we can actually make this into a discussion. Interesting.)

4. Books that you haven’t finished?

  • *nervous laughs* HAHAHA. HAHA. HA. Next question, please?

5. Hyped/Popular books you didn’t like?

  • I DNFed Leigh Bardugo’s Shadow and Bone series. I never got to proceed to the end of it, but I am aware. I mean, there are so many spoilers around. I don’t mind seeing them on my timeline because I just don’t want to continue on.
  • I also DNFed Tahereh Mafi’s Shatter Me series upon reaching Unravel Me because I have had enough of Juliette’s whatever-ness. But if Kenji gets a solo book, I may be willing to accept redemption.
  • Another one is Benjamin Alire Saenz’s The Inexplicable Logic of My Life. As much as I love Ari and Dante, I just felt like I was going nowhere reading Salvi’s story. They’re finding themselves, I know. But of all the books I said, this one has the highest probability of being reread. Who knows? Maybe?

6. Is there a book you wouldn’t tell anyone you were reading?

  • Oh lots. I have read so many doujinshis this year that I have already lost count. But I wouldn’t exactly share my thoughts since 1) most of the doujins have the same plot, meaning I can’t really do a full-blown review if all I can say is within the spectrum of “OMG” and “oh wow how hot can they get?”, 2) content-wise maybe my blog is not prepared for that kind of steam yet and, 3) everyone has their guilty pleasure; doujins are mine. Let’s all move along. (Plus not all of them are listed on Goodreads, y’know?) 😂

7. How many books do you own?

  • Hey, I don’t know. How many software engineers does it take to change a light bulb? EXACTLY. Who knows?

8. Are you a fast or a slow reader?

  • Again, it really depends. Sometimes when a book is so good, I can read it in a day or two. But when a slump hits me, it usually takes me months. With this messed up head of mine, who knows the definite answer really? I read fast and slow. There is no in between.

9. Do you like to buddy read?

  • I really like the concept of buddy reading, but we will have to go back on the concept of reading fast or slow. To be honest, I haven’t really found someone who seems to match my reading pace. I guess I will just have to test this out with my World Literature class since I’m partnered with someone and we need to read a book together. We’ll see.

10. If you were only allowed to own one book, what would it be and why?

  • Surprise! Like I would let a tag post go by without mentioning The Perks of Being A Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. *cue evil laugh* Nonetheless, I will have to shove this book for the -enth time on this blog. I love it too much, okay? The reason being that it’s that one book that has too many memories attached to it that I can’t help but lean to it no matter what.

Tagging these lovely people! Share your confessions with me. Or if you have already done this tag, feel free to spice it up a bit or link your previous tag below. ❤

I Got Tagged: Anything But Books Tag

Alright, I was not particularly tagged to do this one but it sounded nice. It’s a bit of a break the ice kind of tag, and it can stray from our bookish personalities for just a little bit. I find it fun if I could get to know another person by their other hobbies. So here’s mine, and the little details about myself that I am comfortable enough for other people to know about. (Plus, I have not posted in a while, but yeah what even is consistency?)

This tag was created by Katie at ReaderRot. Now let’s get started!

1. Name a cartoon(s) that you love.

  • Well there’s plenty. A lot of cartoons have influenced me as a child, and even now that I’m basically a barely functioning young adult who took up animation as a course in college. I cannot look away from the telly if some of these shows are up: Spongebob Squarepants, The Fairly Odd Parents, (the old and the anime) Powerpuff Girls, Phineas and Ferb, Adventure Time, and The Awesomes. But to be frank, The Awesomes cartoon is probably more of an adult show more than a kids show. Oh well, legal age.

2. What is your favorite song right now.

  • I am really into Zedd and Alessia Cara’s single Stay because it is just so darn catchy. Slightly reminiscent to Taylor Swift’s All You Have To Do Was Stay, but I like this one better because I just love Alessia Cara’s voice. But the title of favorite song is shared with Symphony by Clean Bandit and Zara Larsson. I love Clean Bandit with every fiber of my being, and so is Zara. Plus the music video? A++!

3. What could you do for hours (that isn’t reading)?

  • Stare down the dark abyss I watch tv series, write and stare at my story because it really needs a lot of work and I am stuck with less than 5,000 words. I could also make some typography videos using Sony Vegas.

4. What is something you love to do that your followers would be surprised by?

  • I have a video up that reached 300k+ views on Youtube. It was a Multi Editor Project that I made with my friends when we were slightly (totally) obsessed with Homestuck. But yeah, I also don’t know how it reached that many views.

5. What is your unnecessarily specific thing to learn about?

That I cover my books in plastic? Please don’t hate me. It can get really dusty here. If I want to preserve a book’s state, I need to cover it. Bad for IG photos though. I really cannot have it all.

6. What is something unusual you know how to do?

I have the power of misdirection. No, seriously. It’s like a superpower because in a way, I can creep up on people without them noticing my presence. It is very effective when I don’t want to be called for a recitation in class. Kidding, because I still get called. Sometimes. When I raise my hand. See?

7. Name something you’ve made in the last year?

My thesis? I have done a lot of projects in the last year (Re: Thesis) but okay, let me just skim my portfolio a bit. I found this Skitty model that I did for my 3D modelling class.

8. What is your most recent personal project?

My thesis? I’m currently working on a story that stuck to me that still doesn’t have a resolution. Think Upside of Unrequited meets The Sun Is Also A Star. And it’s set in Manila, mainly Intramuros and the National Museum. I left a snippet up there in case you’re wondering if there’s still hope to it. I really hope that there is. Just for once, I would actually like to finish something. Haha.

9. Tell us something you think about often.

My thesis? Okay, I may not be kidding when I say it is the thesis because I’m still being haunted by it every day. I’m stressing because we are already at that part where we will be publishing it. I am a bit scared because I basically gave our documents a tiny bit of my soul, kind of like a horcrux. It’s the proofreading stage and I am scared as all hell.

10. Give us something that’s your favorite, but make it something oddly specific.

My favorite thing on the world is mozarella cheese on top of the delicious marinara sauce. I love that it just melts away and it creates this string that is just so satisfying to look at.

Yay! Now that is done. I missed doing these random tags. Maybe I will do one every once in a while. Excuse me while I stare at all of the tags. Hahaha. Tagging some of my favorite people in the world for this tag. If you have done this tag, feel free to ignore, but hey the fun with this one is that the answers can vary. *winks*

I Got Tagged: The Mid-Year Freak Out Tag(2016)

‘Tis the end of July and I have read only 20+ books. Right on track (no, not really) with my Goodreads schedule. I have no idea how I managed to do it despite the ridiculous time frame given to me this 2016, but I did it. Hence, it is only proper that I do this wonderful tag this year. I thought that 2016 will be a bad reading year for me. It turns out that I was perpetually wrong.

I was tagged by Raven at Dreamy Addictions, but I was not worthy enough last year. Haha. Luckily, I was tagged this year by B at icebreaker694 to do this tag again this year. Thank you guys!

Onto the tag!

Best book you’ve read so far in 2016

No, you cannot make me choose between these four books. You may not. The Darkest Corners is like the best YA thriller there is. Simon VS. The Homo Sapien’s Agenda is the best fluffy YA contemporary. More Happy Than Not is the best YA contemporary angst. And Holding Up the Universe is the best YA contemporary romance.

Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2016

I have not read any sequels yet. Don’t throw books at me. I’m still at a point where I am only reading the first books in a series.

New release you haven’t read yet, but want to

I definitely want to read My Lady Jane, Learning to Swear in America and Rocks Fall, Everyone Dies. My Lady Jane for historical fiction reasons, plus I am Tudor Era trash haha. Here’s to more historical YA fiction! And well, I want to read more books that feature male leads. Those two books are the newest addition to my male leads list.

Most anticipated release for the second half of the year

It has been said before, and I will say it again: GEMINA. GEMINA. GEMINA. I don’t mind actually. Just as long as I get my hands on it as soon as humanly possible once it is released. Or else I will probably turn wild and I will have to harvest human flesh for food. Kidding. 😉

Biggest disappointment

Have you ever wanted a book so bad that once you get it in your hands, you start reading it? And then it fails to live up to your expectations? It was one of the books that I wanted to read since I started blogging. Unfortunately, it did fail my expectations.

Biggest surprise

It would definitely have to be Cinder by Marissa Meyer, Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, and We Were Liars by E. Lockhart.

  • I had low expectations for Cinder, despite hearing from everyone that they love it to bits. Hands down to Marissa Meyer, because sci-fi is practically my new cup of hot chocolate. I need more of the Lunar Chronicles in my life.
  • Now the Grisha trilogy actually did not sit well with me, and I did not even tried to pick up Ruin and Rising. Now before you go all Grisha on me, I did bring the topic up of reading Six of Crows for the Fanboy Book Club. It means that despite my cold experience with her other series, I still love Leigh Bardugo and her Russian-inspired world. And it was the best decision ever. All I needed was a group of misfits and I was sold. I will be reviewing Six of Crows soon so I hope you stay tuned for that.

Favorite new author (debut or new to you)

I would say that I have too many to mention that it deserves a list of it’s own!

Newest fictional crush

I’m saving that list for another day as well.  😉

Here’s a sneak peek though:

Image via p-i-quote-book.blogspot.com

Newest favorite character

I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to read Holding Up The Universe before it comes out, and I was fortunate enough to read about Libby. I have this thing where I cannot connect with female characters. But I have never felt a strong connection with any character than I did with Libby Strout. She is the brightest character and there, hence I wanted to scream, “Finally! I am represented in a YA novel.”

Book/s that made you cry

I probably cried the hardest during More Happy Than Not. But all of these are equally beautiful in their own way. Aristotle and Dante was just beautiful. End of question. As for Holding Up The Universe, I still have a review on the way so I hope you stay tuned for that.

Book that made you happy

Becky Albertalli’s book is so darn fluffy! It’s like eating oreos dipped in cookies and cream milk, alongside cookies and cream ice cream. It is that sweet because of each and every character, but mostly Simon and Blue. Read it if you have not yet!

Favorite book to film adaptation you saw this year

Does Deadpool count? I mean, it’s a comic BOOK. Plus it is so badass. Other than that, I finally saw the Angels and Demons film because of a lovely friend.

Favorite review you’ve written this year

I loved writing my review for Cities by Carla de Guzman. It was so good, and I loved weighing the words that gave it balance. Read the full version here!

Most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year (or received)

Say hello to my Bookworms Unite 2.0 book haul! These books are oh so beautiful and oh so diverse! Nothing can beat the amazing feeling that only the Filipino book blogging community can give.

What books do you need to read by the end of the year?

I have a list. And it’s a ridiculous list. I don’t even have the courage that I will pull it off. Please don’t ask for my head.

How are you guys doing what do you plan on doing for the rest of the year? The opportunities are endless! Have you guys done this tag? Consider yourself tagged if not! Share your mid year freak out with me. 🙂

Side note: Would you believe that it took me month to do this? Hahaha.

I Got Tagged: Unpopular Opinions Book Tag

So Bianca finally decided to catch up on doing tags? Why do I always choose the most controversial tags? This is so me.

I was tagged by Raven at Dreamy Addictions way back last year. I am so sorry that I have not done this tag sooner, but thank you so much for tagging me, Raven. ❤

Anyways, this tag speaks for itself. Note that this may be a controversial tag, and I hope that this does not strain our friendship, blogger friends. This is just my honest opinion, though I will try to be as discreet as possible and would try to use the word hate less often.

Onto the tag!

1.A popular book or series that you didn’t like

download (2)

Apparently, this question will finally put the cat out of the bag. The series in question is the Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi. I did not like anything in this book except for Tahereh Mafi’s writing style, which was alluring and vibrant. But the plot, the characters, and the dystopian aspect? Nope. Nope. Nope.

2. A popular book that everyone hates but you love

I personally had a good time reading The Selection by Kiera Cass. It was somewhat a refreshing read even though my friends gave me a blurb like “Hunger Games – the killings + The Bachelor”. The rest of the series is on a different aspect though.

3. A love triangle where your ship did not sail

Due to the alarming amounts of spoilers I see on Twitter and blogs that do not even filter their reviews, I know that my ship in the Throne of Glass series did not sail. But despite the fact that it did not sail, I will someday muster the courage to read the series in its entirety. (P.S. This is why I avoided Twitter when ACOMAF was released. :D)

4. A popular genre that you hardly reach for.

High fantasy and paranormal. I really have no idea why, but the fantasy genre is not my cuppa. It’s a hit or miss for me, which is why I avoid it. (Plus, not enough male leads. Always brooding.) For example, here are some of the books that I have not read yet.

5. A beloved character you didn’t like

Tris Prior from the Divergent trilogy. Hear me out. Tris is a level-headed human being, but in some ways, being a post-apocalyptic hero is not the way to go. Also, choosing the faction that ultimately give you pain is not the best way to go.

On the positive note, my mother loved Divergent. I guess she will buy the series now.

6. A popular author you can’t get into

Oh dear. There are tons. Yet on the top of my head, there’s Jennifer Armentrout. Her books just do not appeal to me, and I do not plan on reading her books soon.

7. A popular book series you have no interest in reading

The answer to this one would have to be The Maze Runner series by James Dashner. I was spoiled (thanks to Pinterest). Not unless someone gives me the whole series, I will never pick it up. Especially if I have to go through the pain that is characters dying.

8. An adaptation you like better than the book

Credits to letyourvoicebenerd.com

I will always answer the adaptation of The Fault in our Stars. I also have solid reasons because:

1) I read the book after the trailer came out,

2) I cried harder during the movie

3) Ansel Elgort may not be the perfect Augustus Waters, but he is in my book.

And that’s about it for the unpopular opinions tag 🙂 I’m sorry if I hit some hearts. I did not mean to. ❤

Now, I tag you lovely people! If you have done the tag, feel free to ignore. Or if you want to do it again… YAY!

Morgan at Happily Ever Bookish

Louise at Genie Reads

Shanayah at The Scarlet Book Keeper

and anyone else who would want to do the tag. 🙂

What is your unpopular opinion story? Let’s chat.

The TBR Book Tag

When was the last time that I did a tag? Like… last month, I guess? And I have been such a horrible person for not attending to all the tags that you guys have been tagging me to do. But first, life update.

  1. My thoughts are drained. Yet why am I blogging? Because I need a time out. Everything is just so darn stressful. Even though I am done with the most parts (and this is just our midterms), I still feel really out of balance.
  2. Everything is on a whirlwind of thoughts. I am almost at the point where I will scream at people to “Shut up.”.
  3. I think this is just the summer heat talking.

Nevertheless, I am here to put a smile on your face as you read my shenanigans regarding my oh-so lovely TBR. I was tagged by Ari at The Daydreaming Bookworm eons ago, and I feel really bad for not doing this tag soon enough. Thanks for the tag, Ari. It means a lot to me.

Now regarding my TBR, it is simply chaotic. Well, what did you expect from a neurotic reader? To further explain, let’s get going with the tag.

How do you keep track of your TBR pile?

I don’t.

Is your TBR mostly print or eBook?

It depends. Every ebook that I have is practically a TBR, because I want them in print form. What is sense?

How do you determine which book from your TBR to read next?

Simply put, the neurotic minds picks what it wants. Which is why the books on my goodreads page can go to “currently reading” and then to “to-read”. Then a book that was not on my TBR at all will suddenly go to “read”. It’s fantastic.

A book that’s been on your TBR list the longest?

If I Stay by Gayle Forman. I have been wanting to read this since I was in high school, and I am already an incoming Junior next semester. So when will I read this book?

A book you recently added to your TBR?

The Brilliant Light of Amber Sunrise by Matthew Grow. I saw it at our local bookstore and I was immediately intrigued by the blurb at the back which said, “The boy version of The Fault in Our Stars.” And of course, being my usual self, I added it on my TBR because it’s the guy who narrates. FBCYA duties, because I must always be on the look out for books that feature male leads.

A book on your TBR strictly because of its beautiful cover?

Crystal Crown (Air Awakens #5). BRUH. COME ON. LOOK AT THAT GORGEOUS THING.

A book on your TBR that you never plan on reading?

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000035_00036]

The Stone of the Tenth Realm by Eva Gordon. I have no idea how this ended up on my Goodreads to-read shelf.

An unpublished book on your TBR that you’re excited for?

A book on your TBR that everyone has read but you?

Everyone has practically read the Throne of Glass series, right? Well, I have yet to read the second book. Well, me.

A book on your TBR that everyone recommends to you?

I usually do the recommending. Yet, everyone is recommending Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard. Why?

A book on your TBR that you’re dying to read?

Books-Richelle Mead

The Glittering Court by Richelle Mead. No, I’m reading something else still.

How many books are on your Goodreads TBR shelf?

112 was the last tally. And I just added a few more because some my Goodreads friends reviewed a lot of promising books.

So now, who to tag? Well, I have been out of touch lately, so I’ll gladly give this one as a freebie. Consider yourself tagged, my friends. ❤

I will probably post a lot more next week. It’s this lay low week where we just chill, and then the finals will make us cry even harder. Oh well.

Is it obvious that I was not in the zone? My answers were ridiculously short and sarcastic, that I don’t even know what to even do. Now I want to know: what are the craziest books on your TBR? Are you a neurotic reader like me? I’ll welcome you with open arms 🙂

P.S. Let’s be friends on Goodreads! Link’s on the sidebar and down below ❤

More Happy Than Not Tag

Blogging Extravaganza

Get Up Offa That Slump Blogging Extravaganza is hosted by Rachel at Beauty and the Bookshelf.

The Fanboy Book Club read for the month of March is hosted by MC at Blame It On the Books.

Hitting two birds with one stone gives such a wonderful feeling. I did not mean for this to happen though, but it is really something else. More Happy Than Not is a ridiculously good book that I cannot fathom with right now. And with this tag, I get to express myself more than usual.

Okay, in case you have not yet heard of this tag yet, this is the More Happy Than Not Tag. This tag is originally created by Miel at Bookish and Awesome (who is on a hiatus right now because… stuff. But I do admire his blog because it was one of those blogs that I admired from afar when I was still too shy to approach anyone.) I don’t think anyone has tagged me for this. But I’m getting off a blogging slump and fulfilling Fanboy Book Club duties at the same time. So without further ado, onto the tag we go.

When I get to draw like crazy because inspiration strikes hard, I am more happy than not.

When people commend me for my writing, I am more happy than not.

When I don’t remember how I usually embarass myself because of my clumsiness, I am more happy than not.

When my friends remember me for reasons that they just want to talk to me, I am more happy than not.

When I get to edit AMV’s, kinetic typography, and music videos without my pc or application lagging, I am more happy than not.

When people say that I am too grade concious, I am more happy than not.

When I finish a really good book and finally give it a well-deserve 5 star rating, I am more happy than not.

When I get to buy books, I am more happy than not.

When I get to post on my blog, I am more happy than not.

And last but definitely not the least, when I hear my family sleep safe and sound during the night while I am still awake, I am more happy than not.

Huzzah. Well, this tag brings out the best out of you. So hey, I’ll tag the bloggers that I am more happy than not to have the pleasure of meeting/interacting.

Trisha at The Bookgasm Blog

Bea at Beatrice Learns to Read

Bea at When Curiosity Killed The Cat

Maan at The Pigeon Reads

Joan at Fiddler Blue

Dee at The Bookish Khaleesi

Windie at The Geek Apprentice

Hope you guys will enjoy doing the tag as much as I did. If you have already done the tag, it’s okay to ignore it. But if want to do it again, hey! It proves that you have a lot to be happy about.

What makes you more happy than not? Comment below 🙂

Fictional Crushes Tag

For tags-Recovered

Update: I totally forgot to put a header.

I love Valentine’s Day.

Did you guess that I was sarcastic? Hahaha.

On the bright side though, at least we can dedicate a day where we could celebrate a day where we can freely swoon over our book crushes. Luckily, I was tagged by Keira at Signing On to do the Fictional Crushes tag, where I can swoon over every character that I fell in love with.

The Most Romantic One

Romeo-Montague-1968-romeo-montague-1968-26656608-720-540  -Romeo-Montague-romeo-montague-21494488-493-370  grab31225

Any reincarnation of Romeo Montague.

Has anyone never swooned over a Romeo Montague? I believe not. By definition, these guys are over-the-top with the romantic gestures. A little creepy on the first two, but come on. The second one is Leonardo diCaprio. Who does not love Leonardo diCaprio? And the anime version? I liked him so much, I became an otaku.

The Dark and Moody Bad-With-A-Good-Side One

Grey Fullbuster

Non-otakus may not relate to this one but this guy is one hell of bomb. He has a bit of a backstory that is maybe a wee bit dark (wait, I should have answered Jellal). He also has a bit of a sadistic side, but like everyone else in the Fairy Tail world, he is sweet. But yeah, he strips a lot. Made my nose bleed once or twice.

The Paranormal One

gumiho 149

Dae Woong

Dae Woong was one of my first crushes whilst watching Korean dramas. When I watched My Girlfriend is A Gumiho, I immediately fell in love with him. I don’t know why, but he has this amazing aura. Plus, he’s so cute and derpy.

The One You Want to Tame

Ted Mosby

Wait, why do I want to tame Ted Mosby? Well, I want him to slow down. I want him to analyze everything, even if that is what he practically does all the time. I love Teddy Westside, but if he was not such a long story-teller, I would have not felt so weird while watching the finale. But still, ladies love Teddy Westside.

The One You Friend-Zoned

Chaol Westfall

See? I had my reasons on why I did not include Douglas Booth’s Romeo on the list above. He speaks Chaol to me. Though, he works as Dorian Havilliard, too. I love Chaol, and I actually ship him and Celaena so much that being one of my book crushes, I cannot let him go. But at the same time, I want him to end up with Celaena. So I had to friendzone him. I know. How hard can my life get? //shot

Your Soulmate

Charlie Kelmeckis

Yes, no list is complete without me including Charlie in it. I will never stop talking about The Perks of Being A Wallflower, and I will never stop loving it. Though I am getting tired of mentioning it every time, but nothing else fits.

Charlie Kelmeckis is my soulmate. He speaks to me as the truest person that sometimes I wonder if he is actually a real person. Charlie, I love you so much.

The One You Want to Elope With

Kenji Kishimoto

I would kill to be on a date with Kenji Kishimoto. Despite not being in good terms with the Shatter Me series, I was pulled into reading it because of Kenji. He is the only one who makes sense to me. And he is the best character of the trilogy. And if I elope with him, I know that I will live because he is such a resourceful person. He has such a witty sense of humor, and he knows when he has to be serious. Which is why I love him.

The One You’d Venture Anywhere With

Ezra Mason

I know I got the picture wrong, but hey! Who wouldn’t want to go with an adventure with Ezra Mason? He’s a pilot, so he can basically take you anywhere. Plus, he’s tall. I do not know why I even stated that, but that’s his plus one. Like, “What do you love about your boyfriend?” I will be all, “He’s tall.”. Is that even okay to say?

The One You’d Want to be Stranded on a Desert Island with

Leo Valdez

I will never be bored. I will live like a Queen. Leo Valdez is my King. I know that my twin already called dibs on him… but he’s just so perfect. And if you have to choose anyone, you have to pick Leo Valdez. That bag has everything. And you won’t even feel cold because he is hot. Literally and figuratively.

The Most Badass One

Neville Longbottom

Do I need to explain?

I am drowning in my own tears. This tag is too much for a fangirl to handle. I mean, I basically cannot think of anyone to tag right now. This is your chance to take advantage of the opportunity to do this tag. And I say to you,

Any crushes that you want to add to this list? Tell me all about it!

The Historical Book Tag

For tags.png

I think it has been a while since I have done a tag. I have been so pre-occupied with reading more books that it slipped my mind. With that said, I digged (Yes, digged. Because a lot of great tags and awards are somewhere over the rainbow.) and I found this amazing tag created by Daniel at How to Read Books. I want to thank Lara at KatnissPotterBookLover, who originally tagged me for this.

For one, I think that this is an amazing tag. And second, it’s just a fangirl’s cup of tea. I mean combining history and my favorite books for a tag? Jolly good. The inner history nerd in me has been awakened. In the days of yore, before reading YA novels, I was into reading historical books. So this is the best mix yet.

The rules:

  1. Link to both the original post on this blog and to the person or people who tagged you.
  2. For each figure and question, answer with just one book. Some questions have alternate answer options, so feel free to answer both.
  3. Tag five other bloggers of your choice.

Onto the tag we go!

1) Marilyn Monroe: The most glamorous book you have ever read.

Glamorous. Glamorous. Glamorous.

To be honest I have not read anything as glamorous as Miss Marilyn Monroe. Yet, on the back of my head, The Selection by Kiera Cass definitely showcased a glamorous lifestyle within it’s scene. But a book that truly shows glamour? I would have to read more recommendations and actually read the said book with glamour. Although, I am anticipating Richelle Mead’s The Glittering Court. That I think may help me define glamour in it’s many aspects. Definitely one of the books that I cannot wait to get my hands on.

Books-Richelle Mead

I mean have you guys seen the cover? To be honest, I have never read anything by Richelle Mead but I think with the premise and glamour that The Glittering Court offers, I will be picking it up soon.

Winston Churchill

2) Winston Churchill: The best leader in a book and why.

This may be a case of heartbreak and sorrow, but it is definitely Captain David Torrence from Illuminae. I see persistence in him, the ideals that I have neve read about a leader before. I hated him, but at the same time I understood how he is doing for the greater good. His dedication to everyone aboard the Alexander made me cry. I hate AIDAN so much.

3) Adolf Hitler: The most ruthless book dictator.

Speaking of AIDAN… kidding. I was actually thinking about Alma Coin for this one. I just realized that I DNF’ed Mockingjay. Oops. So the next person I thought of was the king from the Throne of Glass series. I mean, if anyone is ruthless, it’s that guy! I bet he gets worse every passing chapter. I’m only on Crown of Midnight so who knows what awaits me.

4) Maya Angelou: The character who brought about the most change, or had the most personal development.

Personally, I cannot name a character that I can say made an impact to me as a reader on the way their character developed over time. So I am going with the next best character I could think of: Percy Jackson.

Come to think about it, Percy did start as an annoying kid with a lot of problems. He felt like he didn’t belong. Camp Half-Blood molded him into a courageous leader. Like a hero fit for battle, and surviving it against all odds. He is not like the heroes from the past because he is amazing in every way. Annabeth is just teasing you, Percy. You’re no seaweed brain.

5) Queen Elizabeth II: Your most favourite member of a royal family within a book.

I wanted to say Maxon but I haven’t read the entire series yet so I’m going with Nikolai from The Grisha Trilogy.

I’m a sucker for a gray character. He adds more life to the story. Plus he is one of the characters who kept me hanging whilst reading Siege and Storm.

6) Albert Einstein: The kookiest, craziest, most bonkers book character ever!

Finally! I can fit AIDAN from Illuminae somewhere. As a person studying in IT, I found myself horrified by the brilliance of this Artificial Intelligence. At the same time, I screamed with the other characters saying that “He’s mad!”. Bonkers and cuckoo.

Although, it’s a tie with The Mage from Carry On. Teehee.

Statue Bust Of Marcus Junius Brutus

7) Brutus: The most betraying character of all the characters.

Nick from Fangirl. I can never forgive that annoying credit stealer for doing that to Cath. He’s too horrible. Comparing Cath to Julius Caesar is practically an understatement. I hate that guy with a passion of a thousand exploding suns. (Hey, casual HIMYM reference lol)

I may or may not have gone crazy about this tag but I can assure you, it was fun! Lovely tags are lovely. So I tag you people!

If you have done this, it’s okay. But if you haven’t try it. 😀

(I don’t know where this blogging vibe is coming from, but it is amazing! <3)

Character Christmas List Tag

School’s out. Let’s scream and shout. And finally, we could read books all day long! OH HAPPY CHRISTMAS.

Tis’ the season to be merry and jolly. This is the Character Christmas List Tag, a blog collaboration with Anthony from A Very Awkward Blog. The mechanics of this tag are simple: Select 10 characters dear to your heart. If could give them presents, what will it be?

See the original tag by clicking Anthony’s post here.

Onto the tag we go!

(Anthony’s answers are in blue and mine is in violet.)

Charlie from The Perks of Being A Wallflower

As you all know… or if I’m not making it obvious enough, Charlie is my all-time favorite book character next to Hermione Granger. If there is one thing that I want to give to Charlie, it’s the gift of friendship. Psyched. I’ll spoil Charlie for Christmas. I’ll give him a keyboard, a notepad, a board and sticky notes. So that he will continue to be organized and write that book about “The Slut and the Falcon”. <- This books stars Sam and Patrick. They solve crimes.

I just love that guy. I want to get him a paid subscription to make a blog. I want him to call it ‘Dear Friend’. His posts would be the best.

Barney Stinson from How I Met Your Mother

Gee… How would I even know what to get for Barney? He practically has everything. Oh but wait. I wonder if ol’ man Stinson would like an updated Get Psyched mix? Or… a diamond-crusted tie? Or… a Ted Mosby artifact? There’s no stopping the Barnacle! What do I even get you my good Sir?

That one’s a total no brainer. SUITS OF COURSE!

Cather from Fangirl

Cath is my goddess. She is the ultimate of the ultimate fangirls, because she is practically everyone’s favorite fangirl. If it were up to me, I’d love to give Cath bookish tote bags and some bookmarks of Baz and Simon. Carry on, Cath! Carry On ❤

Sherlock Holmes from Sherlock

I’m thinking of giving John Watson. You know, I’ll just wrap John and wait… whoops. JohnLock feels coming. Don’t mind me.

Joey Tribianni from Friends

No, you are not in the right mind if you’re thinking on giving Joey a year’s worth of food (namely pizza) because trust me, you’re going to be broke just hours later. It’s just me, I guess, but Joey comes off to me as a sock person. He’s still a kid at heart, and imagine what he’ll do with those sock puppets?

Greg from Me and Earl and the Dying Girl

I want to give Greg some DVD’s and CD’s of my favorite movies. I know that he probably has watched it already, being a film major and all. But if he wants to swap with me, I would die of happiness. Because I really want to watch Aguirre since I saw that it was a legit movie.

Penny from The Big Bang Theory

Yes, this one.

Do you guys remember Phoebe Buffay’s fur coat on Friends? Well I figured since Phoebe doesn’t want it (or rather, is against it), the coat should be given to Penny. I mean, what better way to feel the holidays if Penny could strut around the apartment building driving Sheldon crazy because it might have some old disease? Just perfect.

Who doesn’t love Penny?! I want to give her a guide for all the fandoms the boys like. I know no guide could ever cover everything, but it’s better than her current ignorance.

Also, I want her to finally have her big break. She has to get a major role somewhere.

Regina George from Mean Girls

Was it weird that when we were Christmas shopping, all I could think of was Regina George? Granted, I was in a fabulous store that was full of items that were to die for. I had to restrain myself from getting all the sweaters because I know that I could only use those efficiently during the holidays until mid-March. Now there was this pink sweater there that just speaks Regina George because it was oh-so gorgeous. So I would gladly give her that. You guys, it’s the holidays. Even Mean Girls are friendly during the holidays 😀

A Swedish snack bar that makes people fat. DIE BITCH DIE

Just kidding. Love you Regie.

Tris from Divergent

I would probably give Tris a pretty pin. And a mirror. Not that I want her to be vain, but seeing her happy with those certain items is as big enough as a Christmas miracle.

That girl seriously needs some yoga courses. I’ll also give her a huge pinch because SHE’S STUPID ugh.

Hagrid from Harry Potter

If Hagrid still does not have that extended copy of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by Newt Scamander, I will be losing my mind. I’m getting him ten copies.

HAGGER! He gets a dragon egg. Also, giant-sized chia pets. He’d have so much fun with those.

Hope you guys enjoyed our little collab. More fun happenings throughout the holidays to all of us. And since this is a tag, here are some of the awesome bloggers that I am tagging.

Autumn Book Tag and Fall Time Cozy Book Tag

Hello hello you wonderful human beings. It has been a while since I have done a tag. I’m feeling very cozy right now, so doing this tag is the best stress reliever. Did you know that 3D modeling is so hard? But nonetheless, join me and let’s try to put our mind off stressful things. I would like to thank Charley at booksandbakes1 for tagging me on this one. It was just what I needed. I know that I am late into doing this, but it feels like Autumn here at my place (and that happens rare).

Onto the tags!

First, we have the Autumn Book Tag.

  1. What is your favourite thing about Autumn?

I don’t come from a country that can experience autumn. Here in the Philippines, the only seasons are warm and cold. If we’re lucky, we’re granted a day where those two don’t overlap. That I think, is what I could compare to Autumn. My favorite thing about it is that I could wear a jacket all day long and I won’t feel like I just got out of an oven when I remove it.

  1. What book reminds you of your school days?

download (1)

Is it weird if I say Hunger Games? Okay, hear me out. Here’s why.

My friends and I were over with Twilight. We needed something fresh because our vampire phase (or theirs, it has outgrown me faster) went tame. Then all of a sudden, a bookish friend of mine cannot stop talking about The Hunger Games. She basically gave away the whole story yet we still wanted more. Thus, it was countless hours in the library. The fastest one to call dibs on the books gets to bring it home next. It was fun because the hype went on until our 3rd year.

  1. What book cover reminds you of Autumn?

The To Kill A Mockingbird cover. It speaks Autumn to me.

  1. What is your favourite horror or Halloween story?

I don’t know… I am not a massive fan. Usually stories just float over my head. Or I fall asleep.

  1. What is your favourite horror or Halloween film?

Hmmm I’m not a massive fan of horror films really so I can’t technically answer this question. Horror films are the only genres that I cannot tolerate watching. I’m weak. But my favorite horror/thriller film is Scream. I can only tolerate slasher films. The thrill of not knowing the killer gives me the rush. At the same time, I can sleep soundly because something bad happens to the killer in the end. But in reality, I do not like scary stuff.

  1. What Fall book release are you most looking forward to?

The book I was anticipating the most was Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. AND I ALREADY HAVE IT. I literally waved the book in front of people’s faces because it is the coolest book ever.

  1. What Autumn movie release are you most anticipating?

Victor Frankenstein. I was disappointed with people because they did not support it enough. I mean, that movie looks so cool! Why did it do well in the box office? But heck, I can’t wait for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

  1. What are three books you plan to read this Autumn?

I finished two out of three books for my Autumn session. I read my first Holly Bourne book which is The Manifesto on How To Be Interesting.  I also finished reading Illuminae. Hopefully, I could finish reading Carry On.

Now here’s the Fall Time Cozy Book Tag.

#1: Crunching Leaves: The world is full of colour. Choose a book that has reds, oranges and yellows on the cover.

#2: Cozy Sweater: It’s finally cold enough to don warm cozy clothing. What book gives you the warm fuzzies?

Charlie always makes me want to curl up and take no care in the world. I am aware that I talk about The Perks of Being A Wallflower a lot, but heck. I love that book so much.

#3: Fall Storm: The wind is howling and the rain is pounding. Choose your favourite book OR genre that you like to read on a stormy day.

The Perks of Being A Wallflower //shot

Any of Rainbow Rowell’s books will do the job for me. They bring this delight to me that I did not even know existed. I love the feeling of reading them, because it’s just so fluffy and heartwarming.

#4: Cool Crisp Air: What’s the coolest character you’d want to trade places with?

Even if I haven’t read it yet, I would love to trade places with Anna from Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins. Why?

  1. She’s studying in France.
  2. I don’t get what she is whining about because France is the birthplace of cinema. If you want to become a great film critic, there is no place like France to help you get on the right track.

#5: Hot Apple Cider: What under hyped book do you want to see become the next biggest, hottest thing?

While we are on the subject of France, I really want this underhyped book to be the next big romantic movie, and it is The Secret Paris Cinema Club (aka One Night in Paris).

#6: Coat, Scarves and Mittens: The weather has turned cold and it’s time to cover up. What’s the most embarrassing book cover you own that you like to keep hidden in public?

Does manga count?

#7: Pumpkin Spice: What’s your favourite fall time comfort food/foods?

Here in the Philippines, we have this dish called Caldereta. It is similar to beef stew. The recipe is dependent on who makes the dish. But I like mine with a dash of peanut butter, liver spread and cheese. Ugh my mouth’s watering already.

That’s it everyone. Gosh, I sure missed doing tags. Now, if you also want to do this tag, I am giving you the freedom. Go ahead. I mean, I know that it’s practically Christmas. But it is never too late.
